Profile Summary

Dr. Binson Babu obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research-Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM) (2019) and M.Sc. in Physics from Kariavattom Campus, University of Kerala (2012). After his Ph.D., he joined as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Technical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany (2019-2022), where he worked on the ‘LiNaKon’ project focusing on the development and characterization of electrode and electrolyte materials for high-power energy storage devices. In 2022, he joined as a post-doctoral researcher in an industrial collaborated project ‘HYDRA’, in the Department of Chemistry and Materials for Energy (MOST – IMCN), Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, where his focus was on developing high voltage Li-ion batteries. He has published 24 articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a book chapter. He has given several oral and poster presentations at many national and international conferences. His research interest is primarily in developing novel energy storage materials and advanced (liquid/solid) electrolytes for different electrochemical energy storage devices such as rechargeable batteries, electrochemical capacitors, and hybrid-ion capacitors.
